World CLIL 2025 brought together teachers and researchers to share innovative practice in Content and Language Integrated Learning. Hosted by PPLI with Maynooth University and Queen’s University Belfast, the event showcased inspiring research and classroom strategies. CLIL continues to grow as a powerful tool in promoting plurilingual, inclusive education under the Languages Connect strategy. Read more>>
All schools that applied for the Say Yes to Languages primary module have now been contacted regarding their application for the upcoming academic year. As part of the Languages Connect strategy, funding is granted to support awareness raising of language course uptake at third level. In May, Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) from across Ireland came together to discuss the promotion of language courses, as well as applications for HEI funding, which are now open! On 6 and 7 May, PPLI hosted a two-day workshop on plurilingual and intercultural education, facilitated by the European Centre for Modern Languages of the Council of Europe. On Saturday 10 May, over 200 students from Saturday Classes in Dublin gathered at Larkin Community College to celebrate a Multicultural Day. Organised by PPLI staff and Saturday Class teachers, the event highlighted the diverse cultural backgrounds represented across the programme. Read more>>
Congratulations to Andoni Oskoz and Paddy Healy from Summerhill College, Sligo who were awarded first place in this year’s Spanish video competition. The lucky team have won a one-week language scholarship in Castilla y León, Spain, this summer, with flights and accommodation included. Read more>>
