News & Events  September 2024

Toys4Engineers 2024

Toys4Engineers, our premier showcase for industries spanning energy, pharma, life-sciences, med-tech, robotics, technology, construction, and more returns on 3rd October 2024, from 9am to 3pm at SETU Arena, Waterford.

Engineering the South East has again partnered with Waterford Chamber to orgnaise the event and a number of our members will be present on the day. There are still a few exhibition spaces left so please email [email protected] or [email protected] for more information on securing a space.

Our great lineup of speakers for the conference can be seen by clicking here. If you are planning to visit on the day then you can register at the door.

SETU Engineering Careers Fair 2024

SETU Faculty of Engineering will host a Careers Fair on both Carlow and Waterford Campuses in November. The key objective of these events is to offer companies an opportunity to exhibit and meet our students face to face where they can explore fulltime recruitment or work placement/internship openings.

This is a faculty wide event and will include all engineering undergraduate and postgraduate students. With 1000+ Engineering students across the campuses we expect a healthy footfall at the events so participating companies will have plenty of interaction.
Places are limited so please contact [email protected] as soon as possible if you would like to exhibit at the Carlow fair and
[email protected] if you are interest in the Waterford fair.

Work-in-Wind Fair, Gorey, Wexford

The Cluster and some colleagues from SETU Engineering attended the first-ever wind energy job and education fair in the Amber Springs Hotel in Gorey, Co. Wexford on Tuesday, September 24th.

The idea was to bring together top employers, universities, and training providers, highlighting the expanding career opportunities in wind energy. The target audience was second level schools with many from the county attending on the day.

It was very well attended by local and national companies who are part of existing and future supply chain of this exciting upcoming sector.

DisrupTech Event 2024

The Cluster attended the Disruptive Technology Summit which took place in Dublin Castle earlier this month. It proved very worthwhile as it allowed us to see what type of companies are using this opportunity and how they are approaching the application process. There were lots of great Disruptive Technology Innovation Fund (DTIF) case studies presented by Irish SME's on the day.

DTIF projects start at €1.5 million in funding and following the event it is clear that our regions engineering and manufacturing companies are well positioned to compete in this process. What was my main takeaway from discussions with successful companies? “We should have asked for more money!”
