Transitioning to a zero-carbon future is one of the greatest challenges facing humanity. Our Mechanical and Sustainability Engineering course at DCU equips students not only with rigorous, accredited engineering training from Engineers Ireland, but also comprehensive education on climate and sustainability issues, ensuring they are well-equipped to tackle the immense challenges posed by climate change while also being mindful of the environmental impact of their engineering work.
This programme seamlessly blends practical engineering with a strong theoretical foundation, providing students with the tools and knowledge to spearhead the transition to a sustainable future. Students will engage in immersive challenge-based learning, utilising cutting-edge technologies and gaining hands-on experience in DCU's state-of-the-art engineering labs, where they will design, build, and test mechanical systems. Additionally, students have the option to study a foreign language and spend time studying abroad, broadening their global perspectives.
Throughout the programme, students will benefit from a close partnership with industry leaders, who play an active role in shaping the curriculum, providing mentorship, and offering insights into the wide range of career opportunities available to mechanical engineers with sustainability expertise.
Sustainability is not just a peripheral concern in this programme; it is woven into the very core of the curriculum, empowering students to become agents of positive change in the fight against climate change.
