DkIT Students Immerse Themselves in RTÉ Experience

Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT) are delighted to report on a recent enriching excursion for first-year Film & TV students as they delved into the inner workings of Ireland's national broadcaster, RTÉ. Upon their arrival at the main RTÉ reception the group was warmly greeted by Jilly McDonough from RTÉ's Communications team. The students were accompanied on the day by TV Studio lecturer Lorcan Dunne.

The students were in for a treat as they embarked on a comprehensive tour led by industry experts Ronan McDonald and Darren Keogh. Together, they explored the News TV Studio and Gallery, The Late Late Show Studio, Radio News Studio, Fair City set, and RTÉ's Main Studio Operations and Production Areas, gaining invaluable insights into the intricate processes of broadcast media production.

Amidst their exploration, the students were privileged to meet esteemed RTÉ News Presenter and journalist, Sharon Tobin. She graciously shared her experiences and offered words of encouragement to the aspiring media professionals, leaving a lasting impression on the group.

After an immersive journey through RTÉ's facilities, the students reconvened at the Audience Reception Area. Here, they engaged in a captivating 20-minute Q&A session facilitated by producer Jane Murphy. Murphy, renowned for her contributions to flagship RTÉ programs such as Prime Time and The Late Late Show, provided invaluable insights into the world of broadcast journalism.
