DkIT Lecturer Nominated for Top Film Industry Award

Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT) are thrilled to report that one of their lecturers was recently nominated for the prestigious Dublin International Film Festival's Discovery Award.

This award recognises emerging and iconic cinema talent across the Irish and International film industry.

 

Taking place every February, the Dublin International Film Festival is one of the most iconic events in Ireland’s cultural calendar. This festival is dedicated to presenting the best in contemporary and classic world cinema. It brings the world to Ireland and showcases Ireland to the world. With a rich history spanning several decades, the festival showcases a diverse selection of films, hosts industry events, and fosters a vibrant film culture in Dublin.

 

Over the past 22 years, it has screened more than 1,600 international films from over 52 countries. The festival has hosted over 600 high profile guests, including Al Pacino, Angela Lansbury, Brendan Gleeson, Daniel Day-Lewis, Danny DeVito, Ennio Morricone, Joss Whedon, Julie Andrews, Kristin Scott Thomas, Stanley Tucci, and Stellan Skarsgård.

 

DkIT Production Design Lecturer Aoife Fealy garnered the prestigious nomination as recognition for her roles as Art Director for commercials and Art Director in film and TV.

 

Beyond her industry influence, she teaches Production Design on the Film & TV Course at DkIT and UCD. The Discovery Award, a highlight of the Virgin Media Dublin International Film Festival, marks emerging talent's impact on the Irish film scene.

The Film and TV course at DkIT warmly welcomes industry experts who contribute their expertise to teach on various modules, covering essential areas such as directing, cinematography, and TV studio production. The Institute’s dedicated lecturers actively engage with the industry, ensuring that students benefit from real-world insights and current practices.
