DkIT Student Wins Creative Spark Residency

Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT) are thrilled to congratulate their BA (Hons) Creative Media student Aoife Hamilton who recently won a much sought after Creative Spark Residency.

Aoife won this residency due to her creation of two sets of stunning graphics for a United Nations booklet on IEDs (Improvised Explosive Devices).

Aoife’s project was named 'Visualising Peace: Exploring Graphic Design Styles for Effective Communication in Peacekeeping Operations'. This project delved into the realms of graphic design, seeking the most effective styles for conveying complex information to a broad audience. Aoife carried out this project in collaboration with the United Nations and the Irish Defence Force, the project has created two sets of informative graphics, each with a distinct style, to be included in a new UN document for Peacekeepers and staff.

JJ Quinlan, Creative Media Lecture DkIT said, “I'm so happy for Aoife to have done so well with her project, it’s been a pleasure teaching her and she should take pride in her achievements. It’s amazing to think her project will be used by UN peacekeepers all around the world, it was so well illustrated and showed great research. Amazing job, Aoife!”

The judges were extremely impressed by the high calibre of Aoife’s work and DkIT would like to extend a special thanks to their esteemed judge and sponsor, Sarah Daly, Executive Director at Creative Spark, The Centre for Creativity and Innovation.
