Cybersecurity Programme for TY students

Register to participate in a free 2-5 week interactive Cybersecurity Programme to introduce TY students to the world of Cyber Security.

We are delighted to introduce a free 2-5 week interactive Cybersecurity Programme for TY students that brings together local cybersecurity experts and Cyber Ireland to introduce students to the world of Cyber Security.
All resources will be supplied and participating schools will receive a visit from a  cybersecurity professional. Students will become cyber-aware through fun activities where they solve a murder using digital forensics and defend a hospital from cyber attack.

This 2026 programme will be available for 100 Irish Secondary Schools from the Republic of Ireland. There has been a huge demand for the programme, but there are a small number of places available.

The programme can be delivered as a short 2-week programme, or in a 5-week more in-depth programme. How the programme is delivered can be determined by the participating teacher. No prior knowledge of the area is needed by either the teacher or the pupils. A step-by-step implementation guide with lesson plans, and videos are provided, free of charge.

🔐 What students will gain:

  • Understanding of what cyber security is, and what tools and skills are used
  • Raise awareness of career opportunities available in the field of cybersecurity
  • Receive a visit to your school from a local cyber security professional
  • Help the students and teachers be less vulnerable to cyber fraud

This initiative is open to Transition Year students in secondary schools across the Republic of Ireland. Schools must have access to devices and internet connection. No prior knowledge of cybersecurity is necessary. Webinar, video guides and lesson plans will be provided for teachers to run the programme.

This programme is delivered by Calmast the SETU STEM Engagement Centre. SETU is South East Technological University with campuses in Waterford, Carlow and Wexford. Established in 2002, Calmast coordinates Maths Week Ireland and several other STEM programmes. See here for more information.
