Spring is in the air, and so is the sound of music across Music Generation!
This season brings a wave of show-stopping performances and opportunities for young musicians to shine.
Isle of Song is an exciting new songwriting project. 50 young musicians from Music Generation Laois, Music Generation Offaly, and Northern Ireland will write, record, and perform their own original music together. From March to October the budding songwriters will work with professional musicians, form bands, and perform at music festivals later this year. The initiative is in partnership with The Nerve Centre in Derry.
Music Generation Carlow’s annual Music at Mount Leinster gathered over 100 young trad musicians for a weeklong residency in Borris, County Carlow. Under the guidance of eight guest musicians, trad musicians developed their ensemble skills and finished the week with a upbeat performance at the Visual Contemporary Arts Centre. Music Generation programmes in Carlow, Laois, Mayo, Waterford, Wexford and Wicklow enjoyed a week full of music, mentorship, and plenty of craic!
We'll have more from Music at Mount Leinster soon.
Further South, young musicians from Music Generation Waterford’s Traditional Ensemble and Harp Ensemble took to the stage with 3 on the Bund. With a full house and a lively audience, it was an unforgettable evening that gave the young ensembles a chance to perform alongside an internationally renowned, trad quintet.
Stay tuned—there’s plenty more to look forward to in the coming weeks at Music Generation. Here’s just a snapshot of what to expect!
