Your June updates from The Lir Academy...

Students and staff at the Lir Graduating Actor's Showcase with actor & Lir graduate Paul Mescal
Our 2022 Graduating Actors'  and staff, with Lir graduate Paul Mescal at our recent showcase event
Congratulations to our 2022 graduating actors on their recent showcase here at The Lir Academy, and in London at RADA. After two years of digital showcases it was lovely to be back on stage and showcasing in person again.

Our workshops and rehearsal rooms are a hive of activity, as preparations are underway for our next two productions, Measure for Measure and The River, which open next week. If you book tickets to see both shows, you'll get 25% off your booking, simply add the tickets to your basket, and the discount will automatically apply.

Would you like to work with us?
We are looking for a Teaching Support & Facilities Technician to join our team. Find out more about the role and how to apply.

Application deadline
Applications for our Master of Fine Arts (MFA) postgraduate degrees in Playwriting, Stage Design (lighting design, set design and costume design) and Theatre Directing close on Friday 30th June. MFA's are available as a 1 year full-time course, or a two year part-time course. More information on these courses and how to apply can be found on our website.

Find out more about ways to connect with The Lir below, and we look forward to seeing you soon.
Upcoming productions
Promotional poster image for The River by Jez Butterworth
A moonless night in August, the Man brings his new girlfriend to the cabin where he has been fly fishing since he was a boy.

Like the river they overlook, their evening takes on a flow of conversation, meandering between nostalgia and memory as they prepare their catch. But all is not what it seems.

Directed by Cathal Cleary and performed by our 2022 graduating actors

“Some rise by sin, and some by virtue fall.”

Welcome to Vienna, a city teeming with vice where sin and desire run rampant.

When the Duke abandons the unravelling city to embark upon a mysterious journey, authoritarian Lord Angelo is left to govern, taking it upon himself to clean up the streets.

Meanwhile, a young nun whose brother has been sentenced to death under Angelo's new laws is offered an indecent proposition for a chance to save his life. With no idea where to turn for help she threatens to expose him - but who will believe her?

A darkly comic exploration of inequality, debauchery and the pursuit of justice.

Directed by Joe Dowling and performed by our 2022 graduating actors
