Unlock a World of Careers: MIC Highlights the Power of an Arts Degree

Mary Immaculate College (MIC) has launched a new series of Bachelor of Arts (BA) videos, offering prospective students an authentic, first-hand insight into the wide range of subjects available on MIC’s BA - just in time for the CAO Change of Mind deadline on 1 July. Featuring student voices front and centre, the videos see current students share what they study, what they enjoy most, and how their confidence and skills have grown during their time at MIC.

With subjects ranging from Media & Communications Studies and Psychology to Business and German, MIC’s BA programme offers something for everyone, while the videos highlight how students develop in-demand skills such as communication, critical thinking, creativity and adaptability.

Delivered by experienced lecturers across 14 subject areas, the programme provides a broad and engaging learning experience, with first-year students exploring a mix of familiar and new subjects before choosing the two they will specialise in for their degree. This flexibility opens up a wide range of future opportunities, with MIC BA graduates progressing to careers in areas such as media, business, education, marketing and the public service, as well as postgraduate study - building the confidence, transferable skills and real-world experience needed to succeed in a changing world.

Emma, a Media & Communications Studies student featured in the series, describes the impact of the programme: “It gives you the confidence to think critically, communicate clearly, and engage with the world in an informed way.”

Geography student Ellen O’Gorman highlights the strong practical focus of geography at MIC: “You gain real-world experience in mapping, data analysis and fieldwork. I have developed practical skills that are increasingly valued in today’s knowledge environment.”

With the CAO Change of Mind deadline fast approaching on 1 July, now is the ideal time to discover the subjects, opportunities and career pathways available through an Arts degree at MIC.
