Equine Collaboration for Health and Outreach (ECHO), is a collaboration of the College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise Campus (CAFRE in Enniskillen), the Irish Equine Centre, Teagasc, The University of Limerick and University College Dublin (School of Veterinary Medicine) with the mission to provide support and education relating to sustainable health protection of equines.

The groups first collaborative event takes place on September 12th with only a few spaces remaining. A key focus of the event will be to familiarise attendees, in a very practical way, with the concept of horse health risk profiles. Attendees will also create a risk profile for their own farm. 

While there will be a focus at this event on managing risks with mares, foals, and facilities from before to after foaling, learnings can also be applied to other categories of equines.

Generation renewal is a growing priority in Irish Agriculture and to highlight the opportunities, Teagasc has organised five events to take place during Generational Renewal Week, which will run from Monday, 8 September to Friday, 12 September. Two of the events may be of interest to equine owners

Tuesday, 9 September at 7:30pm -  webinar focusing on starting the conversation around Farm Succession and Inheritance with Claire O’Keeffe from Succession Ireland and Enda Geoghegan, Teagasc. The webinar will also cover the importance of making a will with James McDonnell, Financial Specialist, Teagasc.

Thursday, 11 September at 7.30pm - webinar focusing on navigating the taxes and reliefs associated with farm transfers with Hugh MacEneaney, Financial Specialist, Teagasc.

These clinics are also relevant for equine owners thinking about farm transfer 

Teagasc run Transferring the Family Farm clinics every year. These clinics are designed to help farm families through the process and all aspects that need to be considered when transferring the family farm.

Young Breeder training welcomes those aged 15-30 years of age. The next World Championships takes place July 16-19, 2026 at the State Stud Celle in Germany (those born 2000- 2010 are eligible to compete). Join the conversation. Training took place in Co. Mayo on July 29th with a further opportunity for two people to earn their spot in the selection process for the team to represent the Irish Sport Horse Studbook at the 2026 World Championships.
