A new school year

Welcome back! This is the first of the fortnightly newsletters that aims to bring you updates on digital content resources available through Scoilnet. The portal now contains over 21,500 curriculum-relevant resources with new content being added by teachers all the time.

If there are resources, activity suggestions, lesson plans or collections you would like to see do use our Contact Us to get in touch. But remember, you too can always share your resources through the portal.

Free Access to Newspapers

Schools have free access to the Irish Newspaper Archives. The archives gives teachers and students access to national and local newspapers covering hundreds of years of Irish history.

Furthermore, teachers can now access the archives from home using their Scoilnet Account. This will dramatically change how teachers can prepare lessons around the archives.  More Information >

NCCA SPHE Resources

The National Council for Curriculum Assessment has launched new SPHE lesson plans. The purpose of these lessons is to create a safe space in which young people can get to know each other; feel safe and connected in their new school environment; have conversations about the impact of recent and current experiences of living with Covid-19; and build on their coping strategies so that they can manage learning and day- to-day living in the months ahead.

StepUp to Secondary School

Starting secondary school is an exciting time for first year students – it’s the beginning of a great big new adventure.

The StepUp to Secondary School website has been developed in order to assist students in making the move between primary and secondary. Resources focus on skills for school, friendship & feelings, tips from older students, and staying healthy.
