Public Jobs Schools Resource Kit | Careers across the Curriculum

We hope you are finding the Public Jobs Schools lesson plans and student resources beneficial so far, and that your students are busily exploring the various career pathways open to them in the public sector!

We know that every teacher plays an important role encouraging their students to think about their future careers, which is why we have developed the Public Jobs Schools Resource Kit with a whole-school approach to guidance in mind.

Did you know our resources can be used across multiple subject areas and can enhance cross curricular learning at your school? Why not share our Resource Kit with other teachers and departments at your school? Here are some examples from schools who are adopting this approach:

English and Irish

All our lessons can be linked to the language classroom and are available as Gaeilge! Throughout our resources and activities, students are empowered to research, summarise information, analyse public sector roles and qualifications and much more! It’s also the perfect resource to pair with CV and Cover Letter writing activities!

Maths and Business

Get students excited to discover how to use concepts and skills in these subjects in real world jobs!

  • Explore and analyse a range of roles with a focus on entry point requirements, educational qualifications, job specifications and pay
  • Research public sector roles and qualifications that are central to skills linked to these subject areas, for example: Victoria - an Economist whose work and research really makes a difference

Check out some additional career profiles relating specifically to other subject areas:

Digital Skills

Once students have achieved a level of confidence around the public sector and relevant career opportunities open to them, they can tap into their creativity by participating in The Pitch Advertising Challenge; a fun competition which opens for entries in early 2022, whereby students create a video advertisement pitching the public sector as an attractive career pathway for their fellow students!

Tell us how we are doing!

We’d love to hear your feedback. Let us know what you like or think could be improved about our resources. You can directly email us your feedback to [email protected] or talk us through your experience delivering these lessons with your students, just let us know when is the best time and contact number to call you on!

Congratulations!

Finally, a big congratulations to our 15 randomly selected winners who were some of the first schools to sign up to the Public Jobs Schools Resource Kit this year! We'll be in touch with the lucky winners in due course.
