Invention of the internet

With the invention of internet, the world transformed into a virtual global village.business-recorderToday, if you have an internet connection, you have at your fingertips endless opportunities, treasure of knowledge, up-to-date information, powerful social network, interactive multimedia etc. No doubt, internet has a prominent place in our lives.

With the new technology on smart phones, and android, and wifi one can receive Internet signals anywhere, which means the world is growing smaller each day. To honour that memorable day in the history of telecommunications and technology when first message was transformed from one computer to another computer, people around the world celebrate each year on 29th October "The International Internet Day".

First message of internet The first message sent over the Internet, 47 years ago today, was: "lo." on October 29, 1969 - the first electronic message was sent between two computers. The exchange took place when UCLA professor Leonard Kleinrock and his student and programmer Charley Kline set up a message transmission to go from the UCLA SDS Sigma seven host computers to another programmer, Bill Duvall, at Stanford Research Institute. The programmers attempted to type in and transmit the word "login" from UCLA to SRI, but the system crashed right after they typed in the "o." The programmers were able to transmit the entire "login" message about an hour later.

What is internet? Internet is a process of connecting a computer to any other computer anywhere in the world via dedicated routers and servers. When two computers are connected over the Internet, they can send and receive all kinds of information such as text, graphics, voice, video, and computer programmes. The internet data is passed through the high speed, fibre optic cables. These cables are owned by telecommunication companies in their relevant countries.

Communication made easy With the invention of internet, it becomes easy to send and receive messages through electronic mail, meet distant friends and family by using Skype, face book, and twitter services. Social networking is a favourite place for people to express their feelings, showing off favourite song lyrics or posting photos and selfies.
