As the Irish economy recovers, the need for skilled business-people increases. There will be very strong career prospects in every sector for business-minded people in years to come. Chartered Accountancy is a particularly attractive and varied career option for your students who want to work in any industry worldwide.
One in three Chartered Accountancy students decides to pursue the profession while they are still in secondary school. We acknowledge the significant role that Guidance Counsellors play in advising students and very much appreciate your work here.
We believe that Chartered Accountancy offers a stimulating and rewarding career for ambitious students. 98% of our 23,000 graduates are working. Our qualifications are widely recognised globally and Irish Chartered Accountants enjoy careers in over 90 countries worldwide. 65% of our members work in businesses - from major multinationals like Facebook and Ryanair, to charities like Trocaire. Eight of the top ten firms in Ireland have a Chartered Accountant as CEO or Finance Director, and all of the top ten accountancy firms in Ireland are Chartered.
I am writing to you today to ask for your continued support in sharing information about the career, and to let you know about some resources available to you.
Online: The website www.charteredaccountants.ie/SchoolLeavers provides general and detailed information about the profession and how to get started.
School visits: We have a national network of volunteer members in our six District Societies who may be available to speak with students during the year. If you would like to arrange a visit from a volunteer, please register your information on www.charteredaccountants.ie/SchoolLeavers or get in touch at [email protected] or call 01 5233949.
In the coming months we will be revising our programme of activities for schools, and would very warmly welcome your feedback on how we could support you and your students, as we go through this process.
With thanks again and kind regards,
Brendan O'Hora
