Newsletter: September 2025

A message from Nicole Greß, Head of Language Department and Project Manager Career Quantum

September marks the start of a new term, and we’re excited to welcome you back —in person or online. Our autumn programme has something for everyone: from adult courses to classes for children and teens.
We’re thrilled to introduce new formats: our
Lunchtime Classes offer a perfect midday language boost, and Keep Up Your German provides conversation practice for advanced learners. For younger learners, we have tailored courses for students in TY and Senior Cycle — a great way to build your German skills.
In October, our
Halloween Camp returns with a twist: older children will dive into STEM and coding projects, combining language learning with hands-on creativity.

And don’t miss Culture Night! Our language department has a fantastic programme for all ages — from Kamishibai storytelling for children, a creative activity space for families, to an overview of our projects for schools, teachers, and German enthusiasts.

We look forward to seeing you — let’s make this autumn a season of learning, discovery, and connection!

Children's Courses in Dublin and Cork

Looking for a fun and educational weekend activity for your child?
Our German courses are perfect for young learners (ages 4–10) who already have some German skills and are ready to take the next step. We also offer a beginners' German course for children aged 6-8.

In small, age-appropriate groups, children explore the German language through games, stories, songs, and creative activities. The focus is on building confidence and making learning fun. Give your child a head start in language learning!

Exhibition Opening: Transitional Terrains

We are delighted to invite you to the opening of the exhibition Transitional Terrains at 37 Merrion Square, on Friday, 19 September 2025 at 6pm, as part of the Goethe-Institut's Culture Night programme.

Presented by the Crespo Foundation and Goethe-Institut Irland, and curated by Ben Livne Weitzman, this exhibition brings together the work of two artist groups and former artists in residence in Glenkeen Garden, West Cork: Max Brück, Yulia Carolin Kothe and Katerina Sidorova; and Lorenzo Rebediani, Vera Scaccabarozzi, Luca Trevisani and Francesca Verga.
Through two installations and an accompanying book, the artists take us on a journey to the transitional zones surrounding Glenkeen Garden, reflecting on time preserved in the bogs of the Irish landscape, and the ever-shifting rhythms and forms of the coastline.

Film Screening @ Terenure Library - 26/09/2025, 6 pm

Franky Five Star

Franky lives in a shared flat with her best friend Katja and longs for her unattainable neighbour. When she gets into unpleasant situations, she takes the elevator and checks into a fabulous hotel that only exists in her head. When the alluring Ella makes a pass at Franky’s best friend, Hasi, her life goes off the rails.
A romcom about the great search to find yourself.

Director: Birgit Möller, 114 Minutes, Germany, Finland, 2021/2022.
German with English subtitles.
