Mobile Application Development - There has been explosive growth in the use of "apps" on
Smart phones over the past five years. This module focuses on how to design and develop real mobile apps for use on Smart phones. Typically a specific environment is used (e.g. for Android phones, or iPhones). The student learns how to design and develop screens, process the data that is "underneath" the app, connect across a network to central data stores - and other core techniques for app development.
Smartphones and, more recently, tablets are increasingly becoming the computer of choice for more and more people, leaving software developers used to PC-sized application interfaces to grapple with a whole new outlook. While many developers already have made the transition, others need to get with the program.
