DkIT Sprinkles Spice on Entrepreneurial Spirit

Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT) are thrilled to highlight the phenomenal entrepreneurial spirit of Adam Murray, one of their recent graduates of the BB (Hons) in Business Studies. Adam from Monasterboice, Co Louth runs his own successful Burrito food truck business called Biddo’s Street Kitchen. Adam commentedI decided to study business in DkIT as I’ve always wanted to be an entrepreneur and have my own business and DkIT offered a 3-year Level 8 course that I didn’t have to travel to Dublin for”.

Adam addedWhat I enjoyed the most about the course was the level of engagement I had with my lecturers, and I felt the course was very focused on the practicalities of business. The course enabled me to learn everything I needed to know from the bottom to the top on how to run a successful business. During my time in DkIT the thing that stood out the most for me was the guest speakers who came into the classroom and shared their own business stories with us. These speakers really inspired me and got my creative entrepreneurial juices flowing”.

Adam who has dyspraxia commented on the fantastic supports he received from DkIT which supported his learning and educational journey, he said, “DkIT was really hands on with my development, I got access to everything I needed along with loads of extra support which really helped me stay on top of my studies”.

The course completed by Adam was the Bachelor of Business Studies in DkIT and it equips students with a comprehensive understanding of various aspects of business and commerce. It encompasses the study of fundamental principles, theories, and practices related to economics, finance, management, marketing, and entrepreneurship. This field of study provides a solid foundation for students to explore diverse career paths, such as corporate management, consulting, finance, marketing, and entrepreneurship, while fostering skills in problem-solving, communication, teamwork, and leadership.

This 3year degree expertly prepares students to navigate the dynamic and ever-changing world of commerce and contribute effectively to the success and growth of organisations. Adam further added “If you are a secondary school student thinking about your future, the business course in DkIT will prepare you and give you the fundamentals needed for all aspects of business whether working for a multinational corporation or it can completely equip you to be able to set up your own business. DkIT was a fun three years, loads of hard work but the reward is well worth it. If I was given the opportunity again, I would take it 100%. I made so many friends and had so many fantastic experiences”.
