Students from the BFEI psychology classes enjoyed an informative, interesting, and educational day at the Criminal Courts of Justice in January '25.
The day began with a talk by a barrister who shared his journey to becoming a barrister, including the ups and downs of his early career, then he explained the functions and operations of the courts. He then highlighted some of the high-profile cases currently before the courts, such as a murder trial and a drug seizure off the Wexford coast, which is being heard in the Special Criminal Court. Students had the opportunity to attend both these court cases.
BFEI students explored various court listings being heard that day, ranging from the District to the Circuit courts. As well as being enjoyable, the visit enhanced the students' understanding of the prosecutorial system within the Irish jurisdiction.
