Spring Open Day

Saturday 5th April, 10am - 2.30pm,

DCU St Patrick's and DCU Glasnevin!

Please encourage Leaving Cert students to register for this exciting event. The schedule includes several taster sessions - placements, psychology and AI, physiology and elite athletes.  Including the opportunity to see our Engineering labs, the Moot Court, the VR Lab AND our new Polaris Building!

This event is the perfect opportunity for your students to chat to our current students about what life is like at DCU! Ideal for 5th years who are planning ahead, and 6th years who didn't attend the November Open Days.

We have lots of Masters Programmes relevant to the world of teaching, whatever their/your professional stage - from Guidance Counselling to Educational Leadership.

The families of your students may also be interested in other degrees - upskilling, career changes, personal interest.

In a careers fair recently, talking to a Leaving Cert student, this is how the conversation went:

"I have no idea what to do next.... and I don't even know how to chose a degree or even if I want to go to uni!"  

"Well, to give you extra time to think and explore, how about this? You can apply for most of our degrees from a 1 year course you can take after you've left school...."

"Huh? How do I do that?"

Here is how: 

• You can find a list of DCU courses that have a QQI FET (PLC) entry route on www.dcu.ie/fe
• Check for entry requirement information on the CAO website for both the major awards and components.
• Visit www.fetchcourses.ie or search online to find where the course is offered.  Remember to double check that the major award contains the relevant components.
• Attend our FET Open Day - late November! This popular event includes current DCU students talking about how doing a Level 5 helped answer the question, "What do I do next?"
• Apply via CAO, and...work hard...it's still a competitive process!

Just to flag, the following courses DO NOT have an FET entry route:

• BEd Languages -  instead, do an appropriate UG degree such as BAJI and follow with PME. 
• BEd Primary - instead, do an appropriate UG degree and remember about the Irish requirement, and do the PMEP.
• Actuarial Maths - instead, apply via its Common Entry pathway.

DCU Autism Summer Programme

When: Tuesday 1st, Wednesday 2nd and Thursday 3rd July, 10am to 4pm

Where: DCU Glasnevin campus

Who: Autistic school students who have completed their 6th or 5th year and want to know more about "What happens at University?"

• Social Skills Development
• Independent Living Skills
• Accessing Support Services
• Campus Exploration

The summer camp is run by DCU staff and student ambassadors.  

Lunch and snacks are included.  There is no cost to attend.

Introducing DCU's Futurology

DCU is hosting a series of six public lecture events at the Royal Irish Academy from late February until mid May.

The DCU Futurology series will showcase a wide range of impactful research from across the university’s five faculties. 

The events are free to attend - please register in advance!
