Shaping the Future: Electronic and Computer Engineering at DCU

Those passionate about designing smartphones, virtual reality systems, computer games, or perhaps robotic medical devices to assist in surgery may find the field of Electronic and Computer Engineering a rewarding path. In today's technology-driven world, electronic components are ubiquitous within machines, enabling hands-on engagement while also requiring coding skills, which are incredibly valuable.

Over the initial three years of this programme, students will delve into the fundamentals of electronic engineering and programming. The fourth year of this comprehensive programme provides a personalised approach, allowing students to specialise in one of four areas: Systems and Devices, High-Speed Networks, Digital Interaction, and the Internet of Things.

During the third year, students can complete a paid six-month INTRA work placement, providing them with the opportunity to gain relevant experience at a company in the UK or abroad.

As graduates of this course, they will be equipped to design devices and processes that address real-world problems using cutting-edge technologies like augmented reality and virtual reality. Moreover, they will be accredited to work anywhere in the world in a rapidly growing field that is in high demand for qualified graduates to take on roles in design engineering, production engineering, software engineering, and related fields.
