Ozempic – unravelling fact from fiction

Maynooth University / Science Week – Your invitation to livestream event Thurs, 14 Nov.: Ozempic – unravelling fact from fiction

As part of Science Week 2024, the MU Development and Alumni Relations Office, in collaboration with the Faculty of Science and Engineering, is hosting a hybrid event entitled, “Ozempic – unravelling fact from fiction”. The event will delve into the complexities of a drug which has become a hot topic in the media, leading to many questions, misunderstandings and myths.

While in-person tickets are no longer available, I would like to invite you to view the live-streamed event tomorrow, Thursday 14th November 2024 at 7pm.

During this panel discussion, Dr Andrew Hogan, MU alumnus, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Biology at MU and Principal Investigator with the Obesity Immunology Research Group, and Professor Donal O’Shea, Consultant Endocrinologist and HSE National Lead for Obesity, will explore the science behind Ozempic – how it works and its impact on health.

Using the latest research, they will discuss how these medications have changed the way obesity is treated. They will also address questions such as: Does Ozempic cause muscle loss? Does Ozempic increase fertility? And is “Ozempic face” real?
