Your January Updates from The Lir Academy...

It's the first day of spring - well - according to the Celtic calendar! We hope that you've eased into 2022 and started to embrace the positivity that the recent releasing of restrictions has brought.

We are deep into preparations for our new show and are looking forward to presenting Three Sisters by Anton Chekhov in a new contemporary version by Cordelia Lynn. It is previewing on Friday, February 11th, opening on February 12th and running until Thursday 17th. You can catch the matinee at 1pm on Tuesday 15th.
Three Sisters is directed by Marc Atkinson Burrell (Sugarglass Theatre) who works between Ireland and New York. The professional stage design team includes Molly O'Cathain (set), Lara Gallagher (sound) and our own MFA Stage Design graduates John Gunning (lighting) and LaurA Fajardo Castro (costume). See more below.

Also below are details on our newest courses, job opportunities and the Lir at Work is back with the Spring season.

Lastly, applications close today for our undergraduate programmes in Acting and Stage Management & Technical Theatre. Be sure that the drama enthusiast in your life doesn't miss out. See more here.

We look forward to seeing you in some way soon!

Three Sisters by Anton Chekhov in a new version by Cordelia Lynn

Previews Friday, 11th February and runs til Thursday, 17th February.

In a provincial Russian town outside Moscow, three sisters are waiting for their lives to begin - again. The clock strikes twelve and the table in the hall is being laid for lunch.
A timeless examination of wistful nostalgia and the purpose of existence amidst incredible political and cultural change, with a delicate twist of humour.

Presented by arrangement with Nick Hern Books.

The Lir Student Resilience Fund

Thanks to everyone who donated after the call out in our last newsletter, we're at 10% of our target so far. For those of you who haven't heard, thanks to a match funding donor, we are delighted to announce a newly created fund to give our students access to much-needed counselling supports onsite.
We are fundraising for a target of €30,000, which will create a fund of €60,000 overall.
€50 covers one hour of counselling and your donation - no matter how small or big - will be doubled and go directly towards this initiative. Our graduate Alex Murphy (The Young Offenders) can tell you more in the video below.
See more and donate at this link. From all of us - a sincere thank you.
