Without effective checks for understanding, it's hard to know what students are actually thinking and learning. So, what can teachers do?
At the heart of effective teaching is a simple challenge: knowing what your students actually understand, so you can be sure they’re really grasping what you’re teaching.
But when checks for understanding are weak or superficial, misconceptions slip through and become ingrained, confident nods mask confusion, and learning gaps grow unnoticed.
