Trinity College Dublin and ADAPT Establish AI Accountability Lab

A new research group designed to advance AI accountability research launches today at Trinity College Dublin.  The AI Accountability Lab (AIAL) will be led by Dr Abeba Birhane, Research Fellow in the ADAPT Research Ireland Centre at the School of Computer Science and Statistics in Trinity.  It will focus on critical issues across broad topics such as the examination of opaque technological ecologies and the execution of audits on specific models and training datasets.

Professor Dave Lewis Honoured with NSAI Excellence in Standards Award

Professor Dave Lewis, has been awarded the NSAI Excellence in Standards 1997 Award at the recent National Standards Authority of Ireland (NSAI) Awards Ceremony. The first cohort of more than seventy post-primary teachers and leaders completed ADAPT’s new ‘AI Literacy in the Classroom’ training workshop at The Foundry, Google. The workshop, delivered by experts from ADAPT and Dublin City University, helped boost educators’ AI literacy. Read more

ADAPT Academics Win Prestigious Trinity Innovation Awards 

Dr. Dara Meldrum has been honoured with the Trinity Innovation Campus Company Founder Award, recognising her work in digital health and vestibular rehabilitation. 

Additionally, Prof. Carl Vogel, an ADAPT academic and leading computational linguist from Trinity’s School of Computer Science & Statistics, also won an award this year, winning the Trinity Inventor Award. Read more
