Student Impact awards AIB

AIB is proud to announce its new sponsorship of the AIB Student Impact Awards 2026 (formerly known as the Student Achievement Awards), brought to you by Aontas na Mac Léinn in Éirinn (AMLÉ). This prestigious third-level initiative, hosted by AMLÉ since 2014, celebrates student-led organisations and individuals who are making a significant positive impact on student life and wider communities across Ireland.

The AIB Student Impact Awards, brought to you by AMLÉ, are a crucial platform for recognising and celebrating the exceptional contributions of students and student unions, while fostering leadership, innovation and positive change within higher education and broader communities. This year’s programme will introduce some changes to reflect AIB’s commitment to nurturing young talent and impactful initiatives.

Set to take place at Croke Park on April 28th, the awards now feature a total of 27 categories and an increased prize fund of €15,500. This expansion aims to acknowledge a wider array of student-led projects and individual achievements, including an increase from six to seven individual student prizes.

The awards categories have also been updated to reflect the diverse and evolving landscape of student impact and innovation. These enhancements include the new individual ‘HEA Educational Access Champion of the Year’, the unified ‘Student Social Change Award’ emphasising broad social impact, and the streamlined ‘AIB Student Financial Empowerment Award’ focusing on student financial wellbeing.

These updated categories reflect AIB’s commitment to supporting initiatives that drive meaningful change, structured around three core pillars.

  • Social Impact celebrates projects fostering social change, enhancing welfare, promoting mental health and championing Irish language and culture.
  • Sustainability & Environment recognises efforts in global sustainability, biodiversity, greener travel and circular economy principles.
  • Financial Wellbeing empowers students through financial literacy, entrepreneurship, impactful fundraising, and direct financial relief.

These awards underscore AIB's conviction that young people are key to building a brighter, more sustainable and equitable future for Ireland.

Orlaith Ryan, Chief Customer Officer at AIB, commented on the new partnership: “AIB is proud to partner with AMLÉ for the reimagined 2026 Student Impact Awards. This year, we've not only expanded the number of awards to 27 and increased the prize fund to €15,500 but also refined our categories to ensure we truly recognise the incredible breadth of student talent and dedication. From driving impactful social change and promoting sustainability to championing financial wellbeing, Irish students are at the forefront of shaping our future. These awards are a testament to their passion, resilience, and creativity, and we look forward to celebrating their impact on campuses and communities nationwide.”

Bryan O’Mahony, AMLÉ President, also commented, “Having hosted these awards since 2014, AMLÉ is very excited by the new chapter marked by our partnership with AIB. The expanded AIB Student Impact Awards will provide further recognition for the incredible contributions students and student bodies are making across vital areas such as social change, environmental protection, and financial literacy. This collaboration with AIB reflects a shared vision to empower and celebrate student leaders, and we look forward to celebrating their impact in April.”

Nominations for the AIB Student Impact Awards are now open and students and student organisations are encouraged to submit their nominations to be recognised for their outstanding contributions. More information on the AIB Student Impact Awards can be found at  AIBawards.amle.ie
