Construction Sector – Opportunities & Challenges for the South East  

The construction sector has been responding to the challenge of delivering more housing as well as meeting the demands of the commercial and industrial sectors. However, labour and skills shortages are now quite evident. This is expected to grow when retrofitting demand to meet low energy transition obligations gathers pace.  More here.

€2,000 annual support for non-craft apprenticeship employers

Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science Simon Harris TD recently announced a new Employer Grant which sees an annual payments to employers of €2,000 per apprentice per year for those apprenticeships which are not eligible for the payment of off-the-job training allowance. Engineering Tops the List of Difficult to Fill Vacancies 

A recent SOLAS survey of Recruitment Agencies found that the demand for skills in ‘science, engineering and technology’ and ‘construction’ continue to be the most in demand and in short supply, with engineering featuring most prominently. See here.

Supervisory Training and Management Development progression routes

Accredited flexible learning courses in general Supervisory Management and Management Development for employees in industry are available across the South East from introductory to advanced levels. There are very good progression routes in these disciplines. More here.
