Children's Courses: Meet the Teachers

We are offering interested parents and their children the opportunity to get to know the children's courses at the Goethe-Institut Irland.

Meet our teachers, learn about our children's courses starting again on 12 September, and enrol.

Places are available in all courses for bilingual children and for children aged 4–14 who are learning German as a foreign language.

Children's German Courses

Looking for a fun and educational weekend activity for your child?

Whether your child is bilingual, an advanced learner, or learning German as an additional language, we have a course to suit their needs. Our programme includes German courses for bilingual and advanced learners aged 4–14 and dedicated courses for students in Transition Year and 5th Year preparing for German in the Senior Cycle.

In small, age-appropriate groups, children explore the German language through games, stories, songs, and creative activities. The focus is on building confidence and making learning fun. Give your child a head start in language learning!

Transition Year/ 5th Year German Course

Hoping for a smooth transition into 5th Year? Give yourself a head start in German during Transition Year with our Transition Year/5th Year German Course!

This course is designed for TY students who want to keep up their German, become more confident speaking, and feel better prepared for the transition into the Senior Cycle. Small groups, expert teachers, and plenty of opportunities to practise - our German course helps students maintain momentum, build confidence, and develop the language skills they will need for Leaving Certificate success.

German Upskilling Courses for Primary School Teachers

We are offering dynamic A2-B1 level German language courses, designed to transform your teaching skills and language proficiency. Engage with your peer group in weekly online sessions, where you'll strengthen your language skills and collaboratively develop innovative teaching strategies.

This course is fully funded by the Department of Education and Youth.

German Week offers schools across Ireland the opportunity to celebrate a modern and multifaceted Germany. German opens doors in Europe – for vocational training, university studies, or your next road trip! We are pleased to offer a wide range of creative and educational programmes and events, both online and in person, to help your schools bring German to life.

For Culture Night Dublin 2026, we invite you to a cultural evening in our building at 37 Merrion Square on 18 September.

We will have Picture Book Cinema and crafting for children, a creative space for young and old to learn German through games and crafts, free book in a bag, German Taster Classes, a talk and spoken word/musical performance from Peter Murphy, the opening of the latest exhibition in our Glenkeen Variations series with the Crespo Foundation, and a DJ set to dance the night away, as well as beer, fritz cola, pretzels, and more.

Make sure to visit us as part of your night out for Culture Night!

Goethe-Kino: Rabiye Kurnaz vs. George W. Bush

In November 2001, Murat Kurnaz, a Turkish national born and raised in Germany, is arrested during a routine check while visiting Pakistan. Suspected of being a terrorist, he is sent to the notorious U.S. detention camp at Guantánamo. Murat’s mother, Rabiye, begins a seemingly hopeless fight to secure her son’s release: Together with human rights lawyer Bernhard Docke, she files a lawsuit against the U.S. government.
