Black History Month is celebrated in Ireland throughout October, offering a valuable opportunity to reflect on and celebrate the contributions of Black people to Irish culture, science, history, and society. It is a chance to acknowledge the often-overlooked stories of Black individuals and communities, both past and present, who have helped shape our world. For teachers, Black History Month is an important time to introduce themes of diversity, social justice, and inclusion into the classroom, empowering students to learn from history and actively work towards a fairer society.

New online course for SPHE and TY teachers

 
 

A new online course is now available for post-primary teachers teaching online safety to students in the SPHE or TY classroom. It enables teachers to raise awareness of and prevent potentially harmful online behaviour by students. Developed by Oide Technology in Education in collaboration with Webwise.

It takes place annually in October, inviting people of all ages to get involved in coding workshops and events. The goal is to show that anyone can learn how to code and that technology can be a powerful tool for innovation.

'Báisteach' - SNAG build up!

 
  

Continuing with our look at the build up to Seachtain na Gaeilge, this months word is 'Báisteach' focusing on types of rain in Irish (our favourite weather type!!).

The film includes includes information on bullying and the eight sub-types as well as student friendly bullying prevention strategies and tactics. Includes a resource handout which expands on the issues raised in the film.
