Watch now: Energy in Ireland animations
For kids aged 12-15
This series of animated videos based on energy data from SEAI’s ‘Energy in Ireland’ report are a result of collaboration between the SEAI Statistics and SEAI Education & Youth teams, with external input from teachers and education specialists.
The videos have been released today to mark National Science Week hosted by Science Foundation of Ireland, which this year asks people to consider what it means to be human in today’s world, and how the decisions we make today, will impact humans of the future.
Energy In Ireland is SEAI’s annual Report which presents the latest official statistics on our Energy Use. In these videos our aim was to take some high-level statistics and make them accessible to young people.
The videos have been designed to be used in a classroom environment or to be watched independently.
For teachers, we will also be releasing related content for teacher-led classroom-based activity and further reading on accessible language summarising the key learnings from the videos for teachers and students. Visit our website to learn more.
This teaching resource is full of educational activities that can help you teach your students about energy and climate action. The activity book is designed to be used alongside Guzzler’s Party story book that is available to download on our website or from your local library.
The activities in the workbook are designed to support open-ended, inquiry based hands-on investigations. This new resource was researched and developed by Associate Professor Orla Kelly of the School of STEM Education, Innovation and Global Studies and the Centre for the Advancement for STEM Teaching and Learning (CASTeL) in DCU Institute of Education, with creative project partners Lucinda Jacob, author, and Alan Nolan, illustrator
Guzzler’ Party Teaching resources are available on our website.
We are encouraging principals and teachers in both primary and post-primary schools to book SEAI Energy Workshops now for the Spring term 2024. During our facilitated workshops students explore the topic of energy and sustainability in a fun and engaging way. The workshops take approximately 45-90 minutes and are aligned to the curriculum.
