CourseCompass: tools for guidance counsellors

CourseCompass: free tools for guidance counsellors ahead of CAO offers season.

CourseCompass (coursecompass.ie) is an Irish platform built with one goal, to help students make better decisions after secondary school. Over 1,000 students have already used it on their way to picking their college course. For students, the platform offers psychometric assessments matched to real pathways. The Course Compass matches students to CAO courses, the PLC Compass covers PLC routes, and the Apprenticeship Compass does the same for apprenticeships, all with ranked results and reasons.

There are also anonymous SUSI, HEAR and DARE eligibility checkers, accommodation guides for every college in Ireland with key dates and contacts, a subject interest test for senior cycle subject choice, wellbeing and transition assessments for younger years, study skills and learning style assessments, and more than 60 career investigations covering a day in the life, pathways, salaries and whether the career is at risk from AI. For guidance counsellors, there is an interactive school dashboard. Counsellors allocate tests to their classes, watch results come in live, and if a student is unsure about their results they can flag them and the counsellor can arrange a meeting, all on the one platform.

The aim is to work alongside counsellors, not replace them, and give them back time in the busiest weeks of the year.

Schools can arrange a free trial for their guidance department at coursecompass.ie/schools
