College Dropout - A Global Problem

Higher education has become a cornerstone of economic competitiveness, social mobility and individual opportunity in the 21st century. In the knowledge economy, tertiary qualifications increasingly serve as gateways to stable employment, higher earnings and civic engagement.

Governments worldwide have invested heavily in widening access, and enrolment has surged. The global tertiary gross enrolment ratio rose from just 14% in 1990 to nearly 40% by 2020. Despite this expansion, a persistent paradox has emerged: many students who enrol fail to complete their programmes.
