ATU and FDC Group announce new collaboration on ATU’s Postgraduate Diploma in Accountancy


Company will fund places for students on the course and entry to FDC’s 3-year Traineeship Programme

Atlantic Technological University and FDC group have announced a collaboration which will see the accountancy and tax consultancy firm fund a number of places on ATU’s one-year postgraduate diploma in accounting followed by entry onto FDC’s three-year Traineeship programme.

The postgraduate diploma in accountancy is a comprehensive one-year conversion programme designed to fast-track graduates into successful careers in accountancy, taxation, and business. This programme is open to non-accounting graduates from any discipline, providing a unique opportunity to gain the necessary skills and qualifications to excel in the accounting profession.
The small class sizes ensure personalised attention and a supportive learning environment, fostering strong interactions between students and expert lecturers.

The FDC traineeship programme will see the FDC Group paying the postgraduate fees in full. Successful applicants will sign a three-year contract with FDC and work as a Trainee Accountant, commencing September 2026. 

The Trainee Accountant will work in an FDC office which suits them best. There are 49 different locations across Ireland with details on the FDC website. FDC Group: Accountants | Business Advisors | Tax Consultants | Financial Advisors FDC will also cover all professional qualification fees. If the contract is breached, fees will need to be repaid. 


Raymond Holly, lecturer on the ATU programme, says: “As a Munster man, I was familiar with FDC Group and was delighted to meet with them as part of ATU’s careers fair. This support will enable more students to pursue their passion for accountancy and achieve their career goals without the burden of financial constraints."

Ann Tynan, Programme Chair, Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting, says: “This announcement is to be welcomed and I see this as a very important development where industry and academia collaborate in serving the region”.

Michael Gill, Head of Department, ATU Mayo, says: “I believe that such collaborations are essential for the accountancy profession to flourish, sustaining high income positions for individuals and organisations”.
