Dig deep into the stories of Ireland with Amplify Archaeology Podcast!
As well as our audio guides and audiobooks, we also produce a monthly podcast series called Amplify Archaeology.
Amplify Archaeology Podcast features a series of informal chats and interviews with a number of Ireland’s top archaeologists and specialists. You can hear discussions the key periods, themes and stories and the different types of sites and artefacts that can tell us how people lived in the past. We also hope to give an insight into the profession and practice of archaeology and the various techniques and scientific methods that help to build the picture of Ireland’s history.
As well as interviews with some of Ireland’s top archaeological experts and specialists, we also feature literally groundbreaking (sorry) news – with trench-side chats with teams digging iconic sites like Glendalough, Kilkenny Castle and the Rock of Cashel. Each episode has its own page with shownotes and links that allow you to dig deeper into the particular themes and references that were discussed during the show.
To date, we have covered diverse subjects like cave archaeology, ogham stones, passage tombs, Conflict and Battlefield Archaeology, and how practices like digital heritage or living history can help us to understand the past. We also discussed the astonishing new insights from the passage tomb complex at Carrowkeel with the project team, and we chatted with Professor Tadhg O’Keeffe about the story and origins of Irish castles. In December 2020, we also ran a miniseries focused on Newgrange and the Winter Solstice featuring chats with those who know the site best.
All available free, and all convenient on your chosen podcast platform.
