STEPS Engineering Your Future Virtual work experience which is hosted by Springpod offers students a glimpse into the world of engineering. This experience is open to all students in secondary school but is particularly useful for Transition Year students at that crucial time before they select final subject choices for the senior cycle.

The Springpod Virtual work experience has been entirely refreshed for 2026 with new video content and online activities for students to participate in. 

This free virtual work experience can be accessed at any time between 15^th September 2026 and 15^th January 2027.  Students can login and take part at a time that is convenient to them. 

The content covers: An Introduction to the Engineering Industry, Innovation in Engineering, Sustainability in Engineering and The Future of Engineering. It closes out with a Pathways module which helps you map out your own route into engineering, covering alternative career pathways, qualifications and training opportunities, and apprenticeships as a route into the industry.
