Join Us for Upcoming RPL Events

Taking place in May & April 2026.

We’re pleased to share two upcoming events that highlight the growing importance of Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) in supporting access, progression, and lifelong learning in higher education. From an in-person session for adult learners as part of Cork’s Lifelong Learning Festival to an online webinar exploring the links between RPL and student volunteering, these events offer valuable opportunities to learn more, connect with others, and engage with current RPL practice.

The Benefits of RPL and Student Volunteering

📅 Starts: Webinar: The Benefits of RPL and Student Volunteering
Mon 18th May | 2026
12.00 - 12.45

This webinar will explore the relationship between Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and student volunteering, and will highlight how volunteering can support learners in identifying, demonstrating and valuing the knowledge, skills and competencies they develop through experience. The session will also introduce the work of the RPL in Higher Education Project and consider how student volunteering can contribute to broader conversations around access, participation and lifelong learning in higher education.

RPL Event as part of Cork's Lifelong Learning Festival: 'A Pathway to Higher Education for Adult Learners'

We’re delighted to be part of the 2026 Cork Lifelong Learning Festival with 'A Pathway to Higher Education for Adult Learners.'

Join Dr
Ciara Staunton for a friendly, learner-centred information session on Recognition of Prior Learning and how it can support access, progression, and advanced entry to higher education.

This session is for adult and returning learners who have developed valuable learning through work, community involvement, caring responsibilities, training, or life experience, and want to explore how that learning may be recognised. All are welcome including those interested in learning more about pathways into higher education in a supportive and welcoming environment.

📅 Thursday 23 April 2026
🕥 10.30–12.00
📍 Room 212, The O’Rahilly Building, UCC, College Road, T12 YN60
