Portfolio Helpful Tips and Information

We are just under two weeks away from your Portfolio submission and just

six days from your CAO deadline!

This email contains some portfolio information and final CAO tips.

Please read on for lots of helpful tips to assist you with both your CAO and Portfolio Submissions!

Portfolio Information

Your portfolios for each programme are due by

6th February at 5pm!

As we near the end of January, we hope your portfolio preparation is progressing well.

See our tips below to help make your portfolio a success.

  • Register and login to the NCAD Portfolio Submission Platform by clicking on the Submit Your Portfolio button below

  • Create a portfolio for each programme you are applying to

  • Ensure each file or video you plan to upload are no larger than 1GB

  • Upload your work as image, PDF, or video files. Larger video files can be hosted on a platform such as YouTube or Vimeo, make sure the videos are set to public viewing and do not contain any audio.

  • Ask a trusted individual to look over your submission for any errors

  • Submit only when you are completely finished editing your files

Weekly Tips

This Week's Tips:

  • You can use a smartphone to document (Photographs/Videos) your work. Make sure you have good lighting (natural light works best) and don't forget to remove your work from any plastic covers and give your camera lens a good wipe!

  • Document all worksheets as image files or PDFs. It's a good idea to limit the number of individual files you upload (10- 15, with 20 max). It can work well to combine a number of worksheets into a single PDF, this will make reviewing your portfolio much easier.

  • You can document notebooks as a set of images in a PDF. Alternatively, you can take a video of your notebook by recording as you turn the pages. No need for any narration, let your work speak for itself.

  • Remember whatever format you choose, the most important factor is that your work is clear and easily legible.

  • Continuing editing your portfolio and files, up to the point you decide which of your best works you want to display. ONCE YOU SUBMIT, THIS CANNOT BE SENT BACK OR UNDONE.

  • Leave yourself plenty of time to document your work and be sure to submit your portfolio as early as possible to avoid errors or technical issues.

Last Week's Tip:

  • Have yourself, or someone you trust, put on a timer for 10 minutes and see if you can review all of your portfolio material in that time (videos, notebooks, photos, and/or PDFs). If not, consider paring your material down to include your best work.
