A two-day national event, focused on nature-based solutions was recently held at Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT). Over 175 delegates attended the two-day event titled Nature-based Solutions Conference – To Protect and Restore Urban, Rural, Coastal and Riverine Environments. Delegates were welcomed by President of DkIT, Dr. Diarmuid O’Callaghan and the conference was formally opened by Minister of State for Nature, Heritage and Biodiversity, Christopher O’Sullivan T.D. and hosted by the Local Authority Waters Programme (LAWPRO).
First class students from St Patrick’s National School, Stamullen, recently visited Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT) along with their cuddly toys. The children had the opportunity to see just how various treatments work through the eyes of their teddy bears at the DkIT Teddy Bear Hospital.
Currently a student on DkIT’s Level-8, part-time BSc Hons in Agriculture, Frank Evans from Co. Monaghan began his career as an apprentice truck mechanic at McDonnell Commercial Monaghan in 1978, a role he balanced with helping his father on the family farm. Passionate about farming, Frank decided to focus on it full-time. He more than doubled his family’s dairy enterprise, growing from 20 cows to 55, and in 1987, he ventured into poultry production, building it up over the years to a 2-house site with a capacity for 55,000 chickens.
Dundalk Chamber Skillnet has teamed up with the Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT) Regional Development Centre to develop an exciting new part time leadership programme designed to culminate in a Masters Degree qualification.
