The deadline for applications for the Degree of Barrister-at-Law is midnight (Irish time) on Wednesday, May 31. The degree of Barrister–at–Law is a professional course, aimed at enabling students to acquire the skills, knowledge and values required in order to be fit to practise as a barrister. Once you verify your email address in the Portal, you proceed with your Application and payment of the non-refundable application fee.

Members Pre–Dining Member Talk: “The month of May and the coming of Summer” – Irish folklore with Michael Fortune King’s Inns are delighted to welcome artist/folklorist Michael Fortune on Thursday, 22nd May 2025 – 5.20pm for a Pre–Dining Talk on Irish Folklore Michael Fortune has dedicated the past 25 years of his life to researching the contemporary living superstitions, beliefs and customs of Ireland. All of the material which he has collected and archived stems from localised field work which he has undertaken within communities and with individuals the length and breadth of the country.

Mooting & Debating The 2025 annual McCarthy Impromptu Debate took place on 1 May 2025 This year, the motion was: this house believes that space travel is a waste of time. The debaters were Mary O’Rourke, Connor King, Susan Labwot and Oisin Mag Fhogartaigh. The debate was judged by a panel of Benchers before dining took place for the evening. Congratulations to Mary O’Rourke, who won the debate (speaking in favour of the motion) and who was awarded the prize by the Hon Ms Justice Aileen Donnelly, Judge of the Supreme Court. Well done to all who participated, and many thanks to our distinguished panel of judges!
Book Club Save the Date: King's Inns Fifth Book Club will take place on 9 June The final King’s Inns Book Club meeting of this academic year will take place on 9th June. The book selected by member vote was Careless People: a story of where I used to work by Sarah Wynn–Williams. Though we gather online for the meetings, every now and then, we’re lucky enough to bring those conversations into the real world. This year, we’re delighted to offer just such a moment. On Wednesday, 28 May 2025 at 6:30pm, Book Club members are warmly invited to step into the historic Dining Hall at King's Inns. It’s a chance to experience the unique tradition of Dining, to share stories in person, and to celebrate a year of reading, learning, and connection.
