The Irish Sport Horse Studbook team put in a solid performance in a closely fought contest at the recent WBFSH International Young Breeders World Championships at Stutteri Ask in Denmark
The studbook awards on this occasion went to Germany's Sachsen Thuringen and hosts Danish Warmblood as World Champions and Reserve World Champions, with the Swedish Warmblood team scooping bronze place. The Irish team finished in seventh place overall, just 14 points apart from a podium position.
The senior Irish team finished in seventh place, a mere 11.27 points from a podium position. While the junior team finished in ninth place in their age group.
Maria Cairns finished 9th individually of 75 seniors, having also placed on the podium in third place for her in hand presentation. Edward Hennessy joined Maria in the In Hand Presentation prize giving, earning 9th place.
Juniors were successful in the disciplines of athleticism assessment with Sarah Kavanagh placing 4th in this discipline, and conformation assessment where Hazel McInerney was awarded 4th place. Ben Kavanagh the youngest team member finished best of the juniors overall in 15th place among 67 juniors.
The team representing the ISH Studbook at this year's World Championships were:
Juniors: Caoimhe Healy, Ben Kavanagh, Sarah Kavanagh, and Hazel McInerney,
Seniors: Gillian Burke, Maria Cairns, Colin Doyle, and Edward Hennessy
The programme is jointly provided by Teagasc and Horse Sport Ireland, funded by Department of Agriculture Food and Marine under 'national breeding services'.
All team trainers are exceptionally proud of the team who worked together seamlessly, were an absolute pleasure to travel with, and a credit to themselves and their parents.
