Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT) are delighted to report that initial projections indicate a significant increase of almost 14% in their student intake for 2022/2023.
The Institute are pleased to be in the position of reporting a Year-on-Year increase in first year enrolments. In the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic this is a considerable growth on 1st year undergraduate numbers across all their fours Schools of Business & Humanities, Engineering, Health & Science and Informatics & Creative Arts.
Dr Gerard (Bob) McKiernan, President of DkIT said, ‘whilst it has been an extremely difficult and testing three years in third level education, we are now delighted to report a return to growth in our student intake numbers in the Institute. DkIT has been at the forefront of delivering excellence in higher education to meet the academic, economic, social, and cultural needs of our region. At the centre of our vision is our enduring and unwavering commitment to the learners, families, schools, colleges, employers, enterprises, and the wider community and I would now like to take this opportunity to welcome all our new students to DkIT, we look forward to being part of your educational journey both now and in the years to come”.
President McKiernan continued, ‘Although this is a good news story we can’t overlook the impact remote learning has had on all our existing students and their ability to re-engage with in person teaching and structured examinations. We are aware of the issue with student retention which is a national problem with all third level education providers. We, at DkIT have put a number of supports in place to help students adjust, while emphasising the benefits of the on-campus student experience’
Over the last 12 months DkIT have academically excelled which saw them win several major educational awards and accreditations including three DELTA Awards, the John Kelly Award and a noteworthy award for their Careers and Employability centre, furthermore the Institute are also delighted to report that 91% of its graduates are in employment or further education within 12 months of graduating. DkIT would align these graduate successes to their small classroom sizes and their dedicated and award-winning staff who supply high quality personalised and accessible education which is academically focused on practical work skills and employability.
