There has been a significant increase in the number of students graduating from Irish third level institutions with First-Class Honours and the level has reached record levels.
Last year almost a quarter of students (23.5%) graduating achieved First-Class Honours.
It is the highest level on record and represents an almost 50% increase on numbers achieving the top score just seven years earlier.
In 2015 just 15.9% of students got First-Class Honours.
A breakdown of data compiled by the Higher Education Authority shows that one in five undergraduate students were awarded First-Class Honours degrees last year, and almost 30% of postgraduates, up from 14% and 20% respectively seven years earlier.
