Reports and Studies from NCCA

Issue 53 - May 2026
A Chairde,

As we approach the end of another school year, we’re delighted to bring you the summer edition of info@ncca.

This issue spotlights our three longitudinal studies. Find out about the latest report from the Children’s School Lives study in which 4,000 children tell us about their experiences of all aspects of their time in primary school. You can read the recently published second interim report on the ongoing review of the implementation of the Junior Cycle Irish specifications. The final report from ‘Exploring the introduction of the Framework for Junior Cycle: A longitudinal study’ is also available and sets out schools’ experiences of working with the framework since 2015. Thank you to all the primary, special and post-primary schools which have made these research studies possible. Your insights and experiences are playing a key role in shaping our curriculum and assessment work.

We also have links to practical resources, including Aistear booklets with sample learning experiences for babies, toddlers and young children; supports for end-of-year reporting and children’s transition from primary to post-primary; and details of how to stay up-to-date on senior cycle developments. Finally, our popular ‘staff spotlight’ section is back introducing you to two more colleagues.

I hope you have a great break over the summer months. We’ll be back in October with more news.
