10th international symposium on career development and public policy

Auckland, New Zealand

November 2026

Registration now open to enable country team member registration and to book accommodation

The 10th International Symposium on Career Development and Public Policy will be held in Auckland, New Zealand from 22 to 24 November 2026. It will be co-hosted and supported by ICCDPP, CATE, The Tertiary Education Commission NZ (TEC), and by the European Training Foundation (ETF).

The Symposium will explore how policies for career guidance can better support the following three policy themes:

-High productivity and the inclusive economy
-Enhancing skills and developing technical and vocational education
-Ensuring disadvantaged groups can thrive.

The Symposium is a unique invitational event that brings together small country teams to exchange on innovations and common challenges for the purpose of advancing career guidance policy and systems development, and policy implementation.

Small country teams comprising leaders in guidance policy, practice, and research (n=approximately 3-6 team members per country) collaborate in working sessions with representatives of relevant international organisations to maximize exchange, learning, and action.

A country questionnaire on the themes of the Symposium is being prepared and participants will be asked to complete this questionnaire in advance of the Symposium. The results of this survey will be used to inform discussion at the Symposium which is really a participant working event rather than listening to presentations.

The event participation fee is covered by the country hosts. Participants pay their own travel and accommodation costs. In a country team context, the relevant government departments, professional associations, and higher education institutions pay their representative participant travel and accommodation.
