MTU Launches Over 40 New Industry-Led Micro-Credential Courses to Support Workforce Upskilling
Munster Technological University (MTU) has launched a new suite of over 40 micro-credential courses designed to help professionals and individuals upskill and reskill in response to rapidly evolving workforce needs, creating flexible pathways for lifelong learning across a range of sectors.
The courses have been designed to address emerging skills needs identified by employers, regulators, state agencies and not-for-profit organisations, ensuring learners can develop practical, workplace-relevant expertise while earning recognised academic credits.
The launch was marked by an event at MTU, bringing together employers, industry representatives and education stakeholders to explore the role of flexible learning in supporting workforce development and regional economic growth.
The university's micro-credentials are delivered through part-time, flexible formats and are designed to provide high-impact learning experiences that can be immediately applied in the workplace.

The new portfolio comprises over 40 micro-credential courses developed across MTU's faculties, covering topics ranging from AI, cybersecurity and data analytics to sustainability, leadership, healthcare, advanced manufacturing, creative practice, financial services and maritime operations. The diverse offering reflects MTU's close engagement with industry and its commitment to supporting workforce development across key sectors of the economy.
The micro-credential initiative forms part of MTU's wider commitment to lifelong learning and strengthening links between higher education, industry and society. Through flexible delivery models and industry-informed curriculum design, MTU aims to make high-quality education more accessible to learners at all stages of their careers.
Developed as a result of a micro-credential project funded by the Higher Education Authority (HEA) under the Technological Sector Advancement Fund (TSAF), the courses offer focused, flexible and accredited learning opportunities that can be completed alongside work and personal commitments.
