MIC has a long sporting tradition and is delighted to offer a number of sporting scholarships, bursaries, and awards in recognition of the sporting excellence amongst our students, including GPA and Elite Sports Scholarships.

University of Sanctuary Scholarships

The MIC Postgraduate University of Sanctuary Scholarship Programme Awards are awarded by the MIC Office of Equality, Diversity Inclusion and Interculturalism (EDII). This Programme is designed to increase participation for International Protection Applicants, refugees, and migrant groups on a merit basis.

In this edition’s ‘Meet the Researcher’ feature, we talk to PhD student Jeryn Woodward Mayer in the Department of English Language and Literature.

Jeryn discusses her research and its focus on the ‘Artistic impact that sectarian political murals in Belfast have on artists working today’.  She evaluates the murals as examples of public art, rather than solely political propaganda, to determine their role in the visual culture of Belfast. Jeryn is a distance-based student, based in Texas.

Dr Liam Chambers, Head of the History Department at MIC, was honoured recently with a prestigious French Government award. He was presented with the Chevalier dans l’Ordre des Palmes académiques—France’s oldest honorific order—in a special ceremony at Limerick City Hall.
