Visit Maths Museums If you are on holidays in any major city, there is probably a science centre to visit which will have loads of STEM fun for all the family and most of them have good maths activities. On the island of Ireland we have Blackrock Castle and Lifetime Lab in Cork, Birr Castle in Offaly, the Explorium - the Sports and Science Centre Dublin, Armagh Planetarium and W5 in Belfast. In Britain there is of course the Science Museum London, with a speical mathematics area. Most of the major cities have a science centre. There are a number of dedicated maths centres in the world. In New York there is MoMath - the National museum of Mathematics in Manhattan. In Germany there are many science museums with the Mathematikum in Giessen dedicated to Mathematics. If you are in or near Barcelona there is the great friends of Maths Week MMACA - Maths Museum of Catelonia. If you visit any of these maybe you could send us a review? |
