CSinc and CESI are delighted to invite second-level teachers to a free Professional Learning Event on Saturday, 7 November in the Midlands Park Hotel, Portlaoise. This free unique event will provide teachers with an early introduction to Data Analytics and Modelling, key areas of the new Leaving Certificate Computer Science (LCCS) specification, which will be introduced from September 2027. Whether you are completely new to data analytics and machine learning or looking to build confidence in teaching these emerging topics, this hands-on event will equip you with practical knowledge, resources, and ideas that you can bring back to your classroom. You do not have to be a LCCS teacher, this is open to all second level and FE teachers (or primary teachers with an interest!). Saturday 7th November: What to Expect Join colleagues from across Ireland for a day of learning (10am until 3pm with hot lunch provided as well as tea and coffee breaks), collaboration, and practical exploration, featuring: Overview of the New LCCS Specification presented by the NCCA Workshop 1: Getting Started with Data Analytics Workshop 2: Let's Get Modelling Optional Workshop (3-5pm): Build Your Project
Friday 6th November Evening TeachMeet To kick off the weekend, CESI will host a special TeachMeet on Friday, 6 November, from 7.00pm to 9.00pm. This gathering offers a fantastic opportunity to connect with fellow educators, share ideas, discover innovative technologies, and learn from the experiences of teachers passionate about computing education. Accommodation Opportunity Accommodation Opportunity To help participants make the most of the weekend, we are pleased to offer a limited number of free accommodation places (B&B) for the night of 6th November. Successful applicants will be able to attend both the Friday evening TeachMeet and Saturday's Professional Learning Event. Please note, we will try to accommodate as many as possible, geographical distance and TeachMeet attendance will be the main factor in the selection process. However, please apply anyway if you are interested in case there are places still available and/or cancelations. Those receiving accommodation may also choose to bring a partner, and if so, there is a supplemental hotel fee of €30 (paid at check), making it an ideal opportunity to combine professional learning with a relaxing evening away.
