Starting to Use AI in Schools

Teachers should start using AI gradually, focusing on practical classroom benefits rather than trying to use every available tool. Begin with simple tasks such as generating lesson ideas, creating quizzes, adapting resources for different ability levels, or developing discussion questions.

Choose one or two trusted AI tools and allow yourself time to experiment. Always check AI-generated information for accuracy and appropriateness before giving it to students.

Schools should also establish clear guidelines covering privacy, academic honesty and responsible use.

Most importantly, AI should support—not replace—the teacher’s professional judgement, creativity and relationship with students.

Start small, share successful ideas with colleagues, and build confidence over time.
