Mental Health Nursing – Is it the right choice for me?

Mental Health Nursing is a specialised area of nursing that focuses on providing holistic, person‑centred care to people with mental health challenges across their lifespan. Mental Health Nurses work to promote independence, health and quality of life, while advocating for each person’s rights, inclusion and dignity.

As a Mental Health Nurse, you can work in a wide range of settings, including:

  • Community services and day programmes

  • Residential and supported‑living services

  • Acute hospitals and specialist healthcare services

You may support children, adults and older people with mental health challenges, often working closely with families, multidisciplinary teams and community organisations.
